A mere two-hour drive from the hustle and bustle
of Johannesburg and ten minutes from Sun City, lies a place of
breathtaking beauty and serenity. A place called Bakubung Bush
Lodge. Concealed in the rich expanses of the malaria-free
Pilanesberg National Park, Bakubung, or "People of the Hippo",
offers guests everything they need to get in touch with the bush.
Accommodation
Bakubung offers 76 beautifully appointed
air-conditioned, thatched roof studio rooms and 66
time-share chalets that curve in a horse-shoe around the
Hippo pool. All rooms are decorated in an African theme
with all the modern conveniences to ensure your stay
with us is comfortable and memorable.
Standard Studio Rooms
Our studio rooms either have two double beds or one king
size bed, en suite bathroom, icluding a shower, air
conditioner, direct dial telephone, tea/coffe machine,
colour TV(with DStv bouquet), a hairdryer, plug for
electric shaver and internet connetivity.
All hotel rooms have doors leading onto either a balcony
or a patio, and have panoramic views of the Park and the
Hippo Pool
Chalets
There are 66 time share owned chalets (affiliated to RCI
and awarded Golden Crown status since inception),
beautifully situated in a horse shoe around the Hippo
Pool, with two bedrooms (one twin, one double), two
bathrooms, a separate lounge/dining area, full kitchen
facilities, a direct-dialling telephone, a colour TV
with DStv bouquet, a hairdryer and a plug for electric
shavers. There is also a sleeper couch in the lounge.

Game Drives
We
offer game drives all year round, either in the early
morning or late afternoon. Viewing game in the wild is a
unique experience and we are proud to be home to the
"Big Five" as well as smaller animals and birds.
Game Drive Packages
We offer the following game drive packages (prices per
person, on request):
• Game Drive
• Game & Bird Trail (no under 16s)
• Game Drive - Sole Use (for groups of 12 or less)
Walks are available from mid August to mid May. Please
consult the Game Department.
Bush Braais
To make your stay memorable we suggest that you include
a game drive and bush braai in your itinerary. The bush
braai is held in our boma situated 10 minutes from the
lodge on Wednesday and Saturday evenings. The menu
consists of traditional South African dishes. Booking is
essential to avoid disappointment.
Bush braais are held on Wednesday and Saturday evenings
for all hotel and timeshare guests and operate all year
round.
Apart from Wednesdays and Saturdays, other drive/braai
combinations can be arranged as follows:
Game drives and bush braais can also be arranged on any
other evening subject to a minimum of 30 people being
booked (groups of less than 30 pay for 30). |
