Welcome to Luxury in Harmony with Nature! This beautifully appointed Lodge offers guests unsurpassed Bushveld vistas, sensational Lapa, outdoor Boma, swimming pool with pool house and luxury chalets designed and situated to offer our guests seclusion and comfort. Mafigeni offers a variety of safari services and our luxury chalets each feature en-suite bathrooms and private veranda’s overlooking the Bushveld. On the Mafigeni premises, our guests can take advantage of dawn and dusk game drives, horse rides or arrange for guided tours to places of interest in the area.

The safari lodge is owned and run by Claude & Jill Kleynhans and the knowledge, skill and many years of experience of the Mafigeni staff, will offer you one of the richest and most varied safari stays in South Africa - at some of the most reasonable prices you will find. Our Mafigeni staff are resolute to offer you, our most welcome guest, a relaxing, yet memorable stay here in the heart of the African Bush.

Come and share Bushveld stories around the fire pit, recount the days’ events at the bar, feast at our magnificent 21 foot Matumi dining room table or simply while away your time beside the pool.

Karibu – you are most welcome!

On the Mafigeni property, we offer guests a variety of services, activities and amenities, some of which are:

Nature walks - Trail distances are tailored to suit individual guests. Game may be stalked and viewed at close range and an abundance of bird varieties all adds to the experience of being at one with nature. Guests are guided by knowledgeable staff who will open up a new world to you.

Game drives in open safari vehicles – Guests may enjoy day and/or night drives. The best time for game viewing is early morning and late afternoon, as wild animals usually bed down during the heat of the day. Night drives give guests the opportunity of sighting nocturnal animals such as Serval, Aardvark, Bushbaby, Genet, Porcupine and various nocturnal birds.

Game viewing on horseback - Early morning, late afternoon and moonlight rides (during full moon only) are tailored to suit guests horsemanship. Experienced staff accompany all rides and first time riders welcome. Enjoy an hour or more (depending on your riding skills) in the Bushveld on well-schooled horses, suitable for all levels of horsemanship. Riders can encounter over 15 plains game species.

Stargazing – Discover the Southern Hemisphere with its clear skies and good “seeing”. In the Southern Hemisphere night sky, there are remarkable celestial objects that can be seen with the naked eye, which are below the horizon on the Northern part of the Globe and therefore unseen or poorly seen in the North. Look carefully for the Milky Way, the well-known constellations of the Crux, Southern Cross, Clouds of Magellan, Orion’s Belt, Venus and complex satellite galaxies of the Milky Way. A sky map for the current month is available upon request to assist you in identifying the many celestial objects of our night sky.

Guided tours – Enjoy a visit to one of the many places of interest in the vicinity with our experienced and knowledgeable guides. Visit the Blyde River Canyon, Kruger National Park or one of the many wildlife centres in the area.

Clay pigeon shooting - If you would like to experience the thrill of firing a rifle, without harming an animal, then clay pigeon shooting is for you! Test your accuracy with a 12-gauge shotgun or a more accurate rifle and try hit the clay disc as it is shot into the air. Suitable for young and old and no previous experience is required. Have fun trying your hand at shooting clays under the guidance of an experienced Professional Hunter.

Hunting – Let our resident Professional hunter guide you for trophy or on a biltong hunt. We offer on site slaughter facilities, cool room and butchery for you to work your meat. Trophy caping and skinning will be done by our experienced staff.

Bird hunting – We offer bird hunting on neighbouring agricultural properties during the bird hunting season (May to August). You are required to purchase Bird hunting licences prior to your hunt.
