The Johannesburg Botanical Garden is located in the suburb of Emmarentia in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The Emmarentia Dam is located within the ground of the gardens.
The gardens were established in 1968 and cover an area of around 125 hectares (1.25 km2) which is home to over 30 000 trees. A fascinating variety of exotic trees such as the English oaks, Californian redwoods and Cork oaks are scattered out all around the garden. It is administered by Johannesburg City Parks.
One of the main attractions is the Rose Garden with over 10 000 roses. A monument commemorating the 300the anniversary of the Hugenots in South Africa is located at the top of the rose garden.
